My lemon "tree"

If you want to grow your own lemon tree, come join the Lemon tree give-away!

This is how my only remaining lemon looks like. I moved all three outside for the autumn and winter... and after a while, moved this inside again. Good move, I guess... the two others are dead by now, and this one is growing, slowly but nicely.

Sorry to hear about the other 2. I commented on your original post when you put pics of the seeds when they germinated. :)

I would suggest that you have a different pot by the way. You need good drainage at the bottom of the pot. They do not like to sit in wet soil. As it gets bigger and stronger than it is now, you need to water it deeply, weekly, and this water needs to drain away. Just a suggestion and a good one too, as I'm growing 4 seeds and I'm all the time reading up on how to look after them lol

Anyway good luck and thanks for the blog postings!

ciao

Well, it is still growing pretty well. I'll move it next spring to a better drained pot to make it grow bigger. Thanks for your pointers!

Thanks for the preparation and planting tips. I'll try your method.

When I was a kindergartener in about 1949 the teacher had every student grow a citrus plant from seeds. Mine did well and eventually grew to about 7 feet tall. When I went away to college in 1963 I could no longer tend to it and my mother could not lift the tub it was in to bring it back in the house for the winter and it froze and died out there on the patio. You have given me the incentive to grow some new plants. Thanks,
Kenton

I'm very glad to read that. I am about to post a picture of the lemon "tree" after roughly two and a half years. It is starting to grow a trunk. I hope yours does, too.

Enjoy growing your own tree, you already know the feeling :)

Cheers,

Ruben

I planted some lemon seeds in a dishgarden planter and left it outside on my deck back in July. To my surprise I now have 4 little lemon trees!!! I brought them inside and had them on my kitchen counter and watered them once. A few days later I noticed one of the trees was looking kind of poor so back outside they went. Now all four are looking great!
